Job Overview
The Guilford Technical Community College is seeking a skilled and experienced welding instructor to join our team. As an adjunct faculty member, you will be responsible for teaching welding courses and ensuring the delivery of high-quality instruction.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach welding courses to students, using a variety of instructional methods to cater to different learning styles.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with industry standards and American Welding Society certification requirements.
- Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment, adhering to college policies and procedures.
- Evaluate student progress, provide feedback, and make recommendations for improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma in Welding Technology from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution or equivalent.
- Current welding certifications (obtained or held within the past 5 years), such as Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW).
- A minimum of 3 years of recent and relevant industry experience as a welder, with experience welding to American Welding Society certification standards.
- Familiarity with oxy fuel cutting and other thermal cutting processes, as well as visual inspection of welds to a code or standard.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution.
- Greater than 3 years of recent and relevant industry experience as a welder.
- Teaching experience or industry training experience.
