Meter Technician/Reader

Guilford Water Authority is looking for reliable, motivated, hardworking meter readers to join our team. This is a 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. position with mandatory on call hours.

Responsibilities:

· Read meters monthly

· Install and repair meters as necessary

· Program and install MXUs

· Assist in rechecks and rereads

· Help with final readings

· Repair leaking meters

· Post shut off and termination notices

· Flip meter lids yearly and assists with service line inventory

· Terminate water service

· Perform flagging and traffic control on jobsite when needed

· Assist in repairing main and service line leaks

· Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

· Must have a valid driver’s license

· Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and prioritize tasks

· Must be able to work well with others and as part of a team

· Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions

· Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions (extreme hot, cold, rain, snow ect)

· Ability to perform physical labor. Must be able to stand, bend and squat for periods of time.

· Ability to use hand and power tools

· Must be available for on-call emergencies when scheduled

· Willingness to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities as needed

A Class B CDL operator’s license is preferred, but not required for this job opening. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
