Pay Rate : $120,000–$140,000 depending on background and experience. This position is eligible to participate in the Guitar Center Company bonus program based on Company performance.

As our District Manager, you will be responsible for the overall retail operations within an assigned territory or district. You will provide leadership and vision to ensure all aspects of the retail business are performed as expected and an incredible experience is created for all associates and customers alike.

Makes business decisions that support financial targets. Working knowledge of business processes and system development.
  • Collaboration : Able to develop cooperation and teamwork while participating in and leading teams, working toward solutions which generally benefit all involved parties. Good team player, able to build good working relationships with others.
  • Delegation : Able to delegate both routine and significant tasks and decisions. Assesses employees' readiness and ability and assigns tasks that are appropriate to their skill level. Follows up as needed and shares both responsibility and accountability.
  • Interpersonal Communication : Able to communicate through various means (written and verbal) with diverse individuals, including internal and external stakeholders at all levels in a clear, concise, positive, and courteous manner. Able to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Organizational Skills : Able to utilize time, energy, and resources to manage priorities, stay on track, and achieve goals. Able to multitask and pay strong attention to detail in a fast-paced & high-urgency environment. Able to complete tasks thoroughly in a timely manner. Able to protect assets and people by learning and implementing protocols and complying with guidelines.
  • Performance Management : Able to lead, manage, and mentor others. Able to lead by example and develop the skills and capabilities of direct reports to ensure goals are met. Provides effective positive and constructive feedback. Able to manage a geographically dispersed team.

As our District Manager you will :

  • Manage a district of 8-15 store locations
  • Achieve EBITDA and revenue targets for the district, inclusive of merchandise retail, lessons, repairs, and rental areas
  • Manage and execute labor initiatives within budget
  • Ensure merchandising initiatives are executed within program designs including (but not limited to) : GOLD Standard, GOLD Card, EHOTH, and Planograms
  • Track customer service responses and look for opportunities to improve
  • Work with national Services teams to ensure areas are achieving targeted goals
  • Hire, develop, and train store managers and store manager candidates. As well, provide guidance and input on all other positions within retail operations that supports the Guitar Center Employer of Choice initiative
  • P&L management / accountability for a given district
  • Resolve any conflicts within the district
  • Additional duties as assigned
  • Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or 4 years of equivalent work experience)
  • Valid state driver’s license and automotive insurance
  • 6 years of relevant work experience operating in a complex, fast-paced work environment
  • 5 years of experience leading teams within a retail store
  • 4 years of experience training and developing teams
  • 3 years of experience analyzing financial reports
  • Intermediate proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Preferences :

  • Intermediate knowledge of retail / music instrument industry operations
  • Advanced understanding of Guitar Center retail systems and processes
