The last several years, Gulf Atlantic Claims Service has grown into a multi-line adjusting firm providing a solution for all claim types to our clients all over the Southeast United States.
We are looking for a qualified adjuster to handle passenger and commercial auto claims along with specialty vehicles to include semi-trucks and trailers. This position is located in Lake Charles, Louisiana and covers eastside of Texas, in the southern part of Mississippi, therefore extensive driving is involved.
Salary commensurate with experience. A company vehicle is provided for this hourly full-time position.
Job Purpose: To inspect and complete the appraisal in a timely manner. Communicate with clients and to save our client's money while also being fair to all parties involved.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Prepare timely repair estimates on all damaged vehicles and equipment.
- Inventory and estimate damage, taking photographs for supporting documentation. Complete paperwork and document as required.
- Coordinate timely repair of vehicles with vendors.
- Maintain a network of vehicle parts supplies for all body shop vendors.
- Monitor status of body repair on vended vehicles.
- Compare damage repair costs against estimates to ensure quality of repair and utilization of parts purchased.
- Handle all assigned claims according to client required policies and processes and maintain documentation of all client activities and provide support to all files.
- Prepare and maintain an effective follow up system ensuring timely statuses to client and vehicle owners.
- Ability to follow the best insurance practices code of ethics and local insurance laws.
- Maintain continuing education (CE) courses for required state licensing.
- Work closely with subrogation and liability to ensure that accident reports are being completed thoroughly to affect a positive subrogation collection.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi Adjuster licenses
- Availability to travel to Central Florida for training
- Clean driving record
- Reliable transportation, proof of insurance coverage, and a valid state driver’s license.
- Physically capable of performing field assessments and evaluations (i.e., climbing ladders and maneuvering within tight crawl space areas).
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, internet, internal databases, CCC Pathways a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Body Shop Manager, Service Manager, Appraiser, Adjuster. Heavy Equipment knowledge and experience is a plus.
- Proven skills in passenger and commercial auto appraisal.
- Ability to follow best insurance practices guidelines, code of ethics, and company guidelines.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Solid time management skills and ability to effectively prioritize while managing multiple claims at once.
- Ability to effectively manage assigned territory.
- Ability to work independently, successfully.

- This person must be able to sit for long periods of time, stand for long periods of time, and occasionally lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds), bend/stoop, crawl, and climb.
Physical Demands: The work requires driving to different locations within specified state, on a full-time and daily basis. Activities may include walking, standing; bending; climbing in/out of damaged vehicles; carrying of light items such as ladder, measuring tape, camera, paper, and books.
Working Environment: Work is normally performed in the field and in the office. Time will be predominantly spent in the field, inspecting and documenting damaged vehicles, i.e. passenger and commercial autos, semi-tractors and trailers. Aspects of this position may include working under hazardous conditions, such as, inclement weather, cargo contents, farm work, and live accident scenes and other un-expected situations.
