Delivery Truck Driver

Job Description:

Gulf Coast Produce Distributors, Inc. is looking for a Delivery Truck Driver to join our team. This position is responsible for efficiently delivering product to customers, rotate their coolers (if requested), process paperwork accurately, follow driver safety rules and provide professional customer service. Assist in the warehouse loading trucks, palletizing product, pulling orders and performing other duties at the request of the Supervisors on the floor.

You will follow the route assigned by dispatch, drive the vehicle into the position, collect the item from the customer, drive the truck to the warehouse and unload the item. The ideal candidate will have a desire to grow and learn in a company that offers a competitive wage and a variety of benefits. Job Requirements:

• Run Routes efficiently.
• Meeting or exceeding designated route times.
• Rotate merchandise when required.
• Maintain contact with Customer Service throughout delivery day.
• Handle company equipment properly; follow written driver safety rules, and compliance with DOT regulations.
• Report accidents and injuries and any damage to equipment or vehicle immediately.
• Assist in shipping and loading trucks for second runs and palletize product. Ensuring quality check on all products pulled.
• Handle customer complaints professionally and immediately.
• Follow all preferred work methods as designated by position.
• Wear assigned uniform and hat. (Clean and professional looking at all times).
• Work overtime if required as requested by Ops supervisor while being in compliance with DOT regulations.
• Must be available for early A.M. Start times; Holidays and weekends.
• Must ensure all paperwork that leaves this building is returned with signatures and any money collected is properly returned to GCP.
• Must ensure he/she KEEPS back door of refrigerated truck door CLOSED at all times when not in use.
• I hereby understand that I am responsible for my delivery truck for any damages that I cause and the cleanliness of my vehicle.
• Helps ensure warehouse is kept clean before leaving his/her shift.
• Must call into office immediately for any shorts from your route, invoice correction, price discrepancies etc.
• Ensures confidentiality between you the employee and GCP ONLY. No information can be
• shared concerning this company outside this company.
• Performs deliveries, pick-ups, and returns of produce, dairy products, from GCP customers and suppliers.
• Reviews paperwork for assigned route(s) to ensure that all invoices are present and in good condition.
• Inspects cargo loads to ensure that they are packed and loaded appropriately before pulling out.
• Completes, organizes, and turns in all appropriate paperwork and invoices, making sure that all checks and monies are balanced and included in the drop.

Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this job.

1. A valid Commercial Driver’s License class, A, B, D or CDL.

2. Proven ability to communicate articulately in English and perform simple arithmetic.

3. Must be able to pass a physical examination per the requirements of the Department of Transportation (DOT).

4. Must exhibit a high level of endurance, energy, and strength to successfully perform this position.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of the job, an associate regularly works near moving machinery and is regularly exposed to vibration and moderate to high noise levels. The working environment includes exposure to outdoor elements, congested, high traffic areas, slippery floors, stairs, commercial kitchens and walk ways. Some duties are performed in the warehouse and will require work to be done in varying climate. Temperatures range from zero in the coolers to 95 degrees Fahrenheit or above outdoors.

Scheduled shifts vary based on the needs of the employer.

Pay: $31,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
