This position is responsible for the design, delivery, review, and measurement of all communications and communications strategies internally and externally to the organization, including employee communication, leadership communication, crisis communication, and the company’s internal and external image and reputation.

In this role, you will:

Strategic Communications Planning

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive corporate communications strategy that aligns with the mission, values, and objectives.
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure messaging is consistent and reflects the organization's vision, goals, and key priorities.
  • Create communication campaigns that resonate with diverse audiences including donors, volunteers, stakeholders, potential new clients, and the public.
  • Develop and implement communications to share the organization's investments and new ventures to best position the organization.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to ensure corporate communications strategies are aligned with the social media planning calendar. And manage the corporate LinkedIn account.

Public Relations Strategic Partnership

  • Work as a liaison between external PR/Media partners and the internal team to ensure the firm meets deadlines, stays within the scope of the agreement, maintains the organizations brand and has the assets needed to complete their obligations.

Media Relations

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets to enhance the organization’s visibility and reputation.
  • Pitch and coordinate interviews, news stories, and publications for key leaders and executives. 
  • Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other communication materials to attract positive media coverage.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for media inquiries, providing timely and accurate information to journalists.
  • Organize, plan, and execute press conferences for key initiatives and partnerships.
  • Ensure key staff are media trained. 
  • Write speeches and talking points for executives or company spokespeople for public engagements or media appearances.

Internal Communications

  • Foster clear and open communication within the organization by supporting internal communication channels.
  • Write, manage, and distribute internal newsletters (Pint Size), memos, and updates to keep staff informed on key organizational developments. 
  • Work with Human Resources to organize town halls or other internal events to promote transparency and engagement among team members.
  • Coordinate and support Human Resources to ensure internal communications are consistent and relevant. 
  • Convene and collaborate across multiple departments including HR, Donor Recruitment, Business Development to ensure clear and consistent voice and messaging in materials.
  • Oversee the weekly CFL Messaging.

Brand Management and Reputation

  • Protect and enhance the organization’s reputation by ensuring all external and internal communications are consistent and reflect the organization’s values and established brand identity.
  • Monitor public perception and feedback, and work to address any issues or concerns proactively.

Event Communications

  • Coordinate and write executive communication and scripting for corporate events 
  • Write CEO communication for priority CEO events

Crisis Communication

  • Develop and implement crisis communication strategies to address any organizational challenges or negative publicity.
  • Ensure timely and appropriate communication during crises to maintain trust and support.

Stakeholder Engagement and Advocacy

  • Create communications for executives to utilize to engage with key stakeholders, including board members, investment groups, government officials, and community leaders.
  • Prepare and facilitate the distribution of the organization’s Annual Impact Report.

Metrics and Reporting

  • Track, measure, and report the effectiveness of communication initiatives through analytics and reporting tools.
  • Success will be measured by the amount of media coverage, sentiment analysis, brand reputation, and the overall perception of the brand.


 We need someone who has:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in marketing, communication, public relations or a related field with three to five years related experience.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and digital marketing strategies.
  • Experience in media relations, brand management, and crisis communication.
  • Computer Literate: Microsoft Office, Desktop Publishing
  • Must be able to work irregular hours and days as needed.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
  • Must meet standards of The Blood Center’s Vehicle Safety Program.
