What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Health Services Director (LMHP) position at Gulf Coast Social Services?
Seeking a compassionate and licensed Behavioral Health Professional to join our team. As a Behavioral Health Program Director, your role will involve conducting patient assessments, providing immediate support and intervention to individuals experiencing a crisis, conducting home studies providing counseling and therapy, and coordinating appropriate resources for ongoing care. Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient assessments to determine immediate needs and level of crisis
- Provide crisis intervention and counseling to individuals in distress
- Utilize various therapeutic techniques, including psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy, to assist patients in managing their crisis
- Assist with case management by coordinating referrals and connecting patients with community resources
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage patients' engagement in treatment - Provide short-term support and follow-up care to ensure continuity of care for patients
- Complete home studies for potential foster care parents - Maintain accurate and confidential patient records
-Be able to maintain an on-call rotation that requires travel
Experience: “Licensed professionals” are defined in the newly-approved LA Medicaid state plan amendment for Mobile Crisis Response as:
a. LMHPs (professionals who are terminally licensed for independent practice, such as an LCSW, LPC, LMFT)
- Previous experience working with children and families in crisis situations is highly preferred
- Knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive behavioral therapy
- Familiarity with addiction counseling techniques and interventions
- Strong assessment skills to evaluate patients' mental health status and needs - Ability to provide individual and group counseling sessions effectively
- Experience in case management and resource coordination for patient care
- Proficient in conducting patient interviews and assessments using standardized tools
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Compassionate nature with the ability to provide empathetic patient care.
