What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Staff (PCA) position at Gulf Coast Social Services?
Duties:
- Provide direct support to individuals with disabilities in their daily activities
- Assist with personal care tasks, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Help individuals with meal preparation and feeding
- Support individuals in maintaining a clean and organized living environment
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors
- Drive individuals to appointments, activities, and community outings
- Document and report any significant changes or incidents regarding the individuals' health or behavior
- Collaborate with other team members and professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with individuals with disabilities
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Knowledge of social work principles and practices
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Basic understanding of behavioral management techniques
- Physical ability to lift and transfer individuals as needed
