Job description
Gulf Coast Social Services' Short-term Respite Program is currently looking for Youth Mentors to make a difference in children's lives by providing weekly face-to-face visits and recreational outings with assigned at-risk youth in various Northshore areas. Great for additional income and you can set your own schedule according to the youth's availability. The Youth Mentor works to develop and maintain positive relationships with assigned clients and their families, mental health professionals, and other members of the youth team while helping youth to make progress toward individualized goals. The goal is for Youth Mentors to help the youth in our community to stabilize their living environment while giving their parents or guardians a much-needed break to take care of their own needs.
Requirements:
- At least 23 years-old with a High School Diploma/GED (or verifiable work experience with people with disabilities)
- A valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
- Subject to background checks
- Subject to drug and TB testing
- A sincere interest in working with and helping youth reach their maximum potential
- Good reading and writing skills
- Patience, empathy, dependability, and the ability to teach/mentor
- Must be able to document progress or regression with the client
- Must be able to complete new hire online training (training is paid)
Additional info:
- Position pays $13 hr
- Shifts may be in the day, during nights or weekends (flexible according to availability)
- Mileage and expense reimbursement provided
- Great for part-timers and teachers.
