Assistant Delivery Manager
Reports To: Delivery Manager
Description
Responsible for leading, directing, and controlling the delivery department goals, objectives and activities within assigned territory.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Work side by side with Delivery Manager to assist with Management of the Delivery Department, and held accountable to the department KOIs, goals, and objectives set by the Company.
- Assist in managing the department to ensure timely deliveries, proper rotation, merchandising, customer service, safe driving, and vehicle maintenance.
- Stand-In during any absence of the Delivery Manager to fulfill the needs of the department.
- Manage assigned Team headcount, updated organization chart, and KOI tracking requirements.
- Perform all work activities in accordance to established safe work practices, and all Company policies and procedures.
- Ensure all assigned Team Delivery Drivers adhere to DOT policies.
- Ensure that all assigned Team employees adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all account receivables are collected according to company policies.
- Assist Delivery Manager with recruitment, interviews, and hiring of prospective employees, and with approval of Managing Director.
- Conduct assigned Work-Withs to observe, critique, and improve delivery performance.
- Review and adjust daily (when necessary) the work assignments of assigned Team.
- Oversee and conduct all performance reviews for assigned Team.
- Assist Delivery Manager with research and implement route re-alignments that are necessary to improve customer service, with the approval of the Managing Director.
- Assist with direction and execute the Delivery Department training program, and implement the continuing education of employees to ensure the professional and consistent performance from the team.
- Implement corrective action and/or disciplinary plans for assigned Team employees with assistance from Delivery Manager as needed.
- Assist, conduct, and report safety / accident investigations, for the department, following the guidelines of the Companys process and/or procedure.
- Participate in Company safety committee meetings, and safety projects as assigned.
- Have a working knowledge of all routes and, if necessary, fill-in during vacancies, sick, and vacation leave.
- As assigned, assist with special events.
- Attend and participate as instructed at all safety and drivers meetings.
- Complete all the special attention items the Sales Department has communicated to you.
- Promote the sales of company products through personal selling efforts and regular contacts with individual accounts, chain stores and large retailers.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with the owners, managers and employees of all assigned accounts.
- Maintain open and clear communications with the owners, managers, and other employees of the company.
- Monitor, track and train proper operation, protection from damage, and return of all equipment that has been issued to you and assigned team.
- Courtesy on the road is important at all times. Be polite to other drivers, it is a reflection on the image of the company.
- Dress and maintain your personal appearance in a professional manner and according to company policy.
- Report immediately to the Delivery Manager any traffic violations (on or off duty,) that may affect your CDL status and/or insurability.
- All other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
Keep shelves and vendors clean. Place product on hand truck or dolly (approximately 20 to 50 lbs per case). Pushes/pulls hand truck to machine or shelves and loads appropriate product. Climbing in and out of vehicle and proper lifting techniques
Qualifications
