What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipyard Planner position at Gulf Marine Repair?
Gulf Marine Repair is currently accepting applications for a Shipyard Planner. As a Planner, you will be responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and expediting the flow of work, manpower and materials within or between departments, crafts, customers, sub-contractors, and work locations on assigned projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and manage a master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each work item per project to meet production schedule and delivery date of marine vessels.
- Monitor daily production requirements to advise production management and meet customer expectations.
- Coordinate production workflow across multiple projects.
- Analyze customer production specifications and shipyard capacities to determine manufacturing processes, manpower, material, and tools necessary for each project.
- Communicate with Project Managers, Superintendents, Customer Port Engineers, and Sub-Contractors to determine status of assigned work.
- Expedite operations that delay production schedules and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
- Ensure the smooth and cost-efficient flow of production operations across all projects.
- Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends and holidays if required.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working in a new construction or repair shipyard preferred.
- Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and Project experience required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively receive and present information, and respond to questions from senior management, employees, and customers.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to adhere to strict customer deadlines.
- Ability to remain flexible, "think outside the box" and adapt to changes in work scope and/or schedules.
- Ability to rapidly obtain, sort, filter, and analyze large volumes of data.
