Under general supervision performs complex preventive maintenance and repair duties on City facilities and equipment.Diagnose, repair and install emergency back-up power through generators or battery back-up lighting within City facilities. Performs tests on back-up systems.
Diagnose, repair and install new City owned lighting such as bridges, streets, parking lots and walk ways.
Diagnose, repair and install new electrical systems, HVAC systems, plumbing systems and Boiler systems within City facilities.
Diagnose, repair and install locking, audio and video systems of the City jail
Participate in new construction projects.
Transport a variety of heavy equipment to and from job sites by way of tractor and trailer.
Assists with the preparation and clean-up efforts required before and after a natural disaster, including hurricanes.
Assists with special events for the City, parades, festivals and city wide decorations
Performs routine administrative tasks for the department; requisitions funds and purchases tools, shop equipment and materials; prepares daily work requests, daily reports, time sheets, building repair orders, shop repair orders, quote sheets, and related documents. Education and Experience:
High School Education or equivalent; and three to four years of experience; or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Licenses and Certifications:
Class A CDL, Work Zone Safety I & IIIMPORTANT JOB FUNCTIONS:
