Under general supervision, secures and cares for inmate sentenced to jail by the municipal court; book in and conduct bond
hears for new arrests. This is highly responsible work in the security and operation of the City detention facilities. This employee supervises jail operations such as receiving, processing and transporting prisoners, protecting their well-being, and arranging work details. responsibilities also include the supervision of sanitary and general building maintenance of the jail. Must be willing to work overtime, nonstandard hours, weekends and holidays as required to complete work assignments.
Starting Salary: $17.94 per hourPerforms administrative tasks for the facility; maintains inmate records and related documentation; updates and maintains related financial records; delivers court papers involving detainees; obtains fingerprints; prepares incident reports; completes arrest reports; prepares meal, medication and property documentation; maintains inventory of facility supplies; researches the NCIC for warrant information.
Performs tasks to book and process inmates arriving at the facility; searches inmates upon arrival to the facility; completes inmate profile documentation.
Works to keep a peaceful and community oriented atmosphere among inmates; provides intervention during inmate disputes; resolves physical conflicts
Monitors activities to prevent escape of inmates.
Performs administrative tasks for the facility; maintains inmate records and related documentation; updates and maintains related financial records; delivers court papers involving detainees; obtains fingerprints; prepares incident reports; completes arrest reports; prepares meal, medication and property documentation; maintains inventory of facility supplies; researches the NCIC for warrant information.
Education and Experience:
High School Education or Equivalent; and,
No experience; or,
Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Licenses and Certifications:
Necessary- Jail Management Certification, Drager Alcostest Certification, Taser Certification
Desirable- ACJIC & NCIC CertificationsImportant Job Functions:
Act as Court Bailiff and Bond Hearing Staff
Transports inmates to various locations; escorts inmates to and from court.
Supervise facility cleaning through detainee labor.
Assists with dispatching activities as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned
