Job Overview
Gulf Shores International Airport seeks a highly skilled Airport Operations Manager to coordinate the use of airport facilities in accordance with established policies and procedures. This individual will maintain airport compliance with Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Part 139, Transportation Security Regulation (TSR) Part 1542, and all other applicable statutes, regulations, and requirements while ensuring the safety and security of all airport users.
Responsibilities
• Coordinates use of airport facilities by air carrier, air cargo, military, and charter aircraft operators
• Trains and tests airport employees on movement area operating procedures
• Monitors and ensures safe vehicle operations on movement and non-movement areas
• Performs fingerprinting duties to support badging program
• Assumes primary responsibility for wildlife control procedures and ensures compliance with the Authority's Wildlife Hazard Management Plan and applicable state and federal regulations
• Closes or places restrictions on airport operating areas to ensure operational safety
• Represents airport authority in absence of management
• Coordinates safety and security measures with airport tenants, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and state and county public safety and emergency response agencies
• Issues notices to air missions (NOTAMs) to report all conditions that impact safe operations of aircraft and ensures that they are promptly communicated to the FAA, air carriers, and other airport users
• Assists in planning and coordinating use of facilities for dignitary visits and other special events
• Enforces compliance with the airport rules and regulations and the airport security program
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Aviation Management, Aviation Science, Business Administration, or other relevant field combined with experience in airport operations or administration, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Valid Driver's License
