Summary
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is crucial for managing the flow of goods in and out of the facility. This role encompasses responsibilities across shipping, receiving, returns, carrier relations, order management, product management, and customer service to ensure prompt, accurate, and systematic handling of materials and customer interactions. Central to this position is a commitment to providing outstanding customer service, ensuring every client interaction is conducted with professionalism and dedication to meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
Essential Duties
- Efficiently checks in and out truck drivers using excel and other Microsoft office applications, all procedures are timely and comply with company standards.
- Completes and obtains the necessary signatures on bills of lading, guaranteeing all paperwork is accurate and properly filed.
- Ensures all activities comply with safety codes, company policies, and regulations, promoting a safe working environment.
- Identifies and resolves issues with shipments, liaising with customers and team members to ensure smooth operations.
- Maintains effective communication with customers, addressing deadlines, commodity issues, and general inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Promptly receives and processes customer orders in the warehouse management system and Microsoft Office, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Implements new methods and procedures to continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of department operations.
- Works closely with other departments to coordinate activities and ensure that customer needs are met, enhancing overall service delivery.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must have a current Texas driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.

Must have at least one (1) year of experience in shipping and receiving.

Must have at least one (1) year experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must have at least one (1) year experience with an automated warehouse management systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Visual Intermodal.

- Proficient Data Entry skills in Microsoft Office, Excel and warehouse management systems software.

- Project a courteous, professional, and positive approach with customers, employees, and authorizing agencies while providing prompt, efficient, and accurate assistance.
- Sit or stand for 4–8 hours within a given day while performing essential duties.
- Constantly uses fingers and hands when dialing/answering the phone and operating a computer or other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
- Occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.
- Ability to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information through verbal communication in person or over the telephone.
- Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents; operate a computer or other office machinery; and detect objects in and around the office.
- Occasionally moves about, push/pull, climbing, stooping, kneeling, standing, and/or ascends/descends stairs to gather or deliver documents; access office machinery (copy machine, computer printer, and the like); attend training sessions; meet with co-workers; and/or perform related duties.
Working Conditions
- Majority of work is performed in an office atmosphere located inside a building with no hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
- May require infrequent warehouse or storage yard visits in outdoor weather conditions with exposure to extreme cold, heat, and noise depending upon truck activity.
