As the Crew Foreman, you will be responsible for directly supervising and coordinating the activities of field employees while working on the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of utility lines and structures, including water, sewer, gas, electric, and communication systems. In addition, the Crew Foreman provides leadership to his crew members and is responsible for safety administration, job documentation, training, equipment operation, and ensuring the consistent and fair application of all GUCI policies and procedures. This position reports to the Superintendent.

Prerequisites, Preferred Qualifications & Requirements_

The following is a list of essential skills and qualifications for this position, but it should not be considered complete. All GUCI employees are expected to have excellent work ethics, high integrity, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and work with the highest level of professionalism. Every employee is expected to work towards completing GUCIs mission at the highest level.

· High School Diploma or higher education required.

· College and/or trade school degree or certificate preferred.

· 3-5 years of experience as a Foreman or Crew Manager, 5-10 years preferred.

· Working knowledge of various aspects of underground utility construction practices including codes, specifications, contracts, safety, equipment, and technology.

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, drawings, specifications, manuals, and schematics.

· Strong work ethic, leadership, attention to detail, and time management skills.

· Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record with expectation to travel to project sites throughout the state as necessary.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

o We believe that communication skills are paramount to professionalism. Because this position requires frequent communication with employees, vendors, contractors, and clients, a demonstratable proficiency in verbal and written communication skills is required.

· Moderate technological knowledge required.

o Crew Foremen are issued iPhones with the expectation to send and receive emails, texts, pictures, and phone calls, as well as view plans, drawings, specifications, and other project information from shared data platforms (Box, OneDrive, etc.).

· OSHA 30 Certified and basic First Aid/CPR training preferred.

· Willingness to complete additional training and continuing education as necessary.

· Pass pre-employment and random drug screening throughout employment.

Essential Functions_

The following is a list of essential functions but should not be considered complete, employees are expected to complete all tasks as assigned.

· Read, interpret, and review construction drawings and blueprints as they are distributed.

· Recommend measures as observed to improve production methods to increase efficiency and safety.

· Assist Superintendent in planning and scheduling the work of your crew.

· Advise Superintendent of your needs for crew members, materials, and equipment to ensure efficient completion of assigned projects.

· Organize and direct crew members, materials, and equipment to achieve the highest productivity and quality while maintaining safe work practices across all tasks and projects.

· Accurately record and report equipment and material use; work production; and employee work hours on Daily Report form. Submit to Superintendent daily for processing.

· Continuously monitor quality output of crew members. Applaud and encourage when necessary; stop and critique when required.

· Maintain inventory of equipment and materials throughout project.

· Suggest and initiate personnel actions, such as promotions or terminations.

· Handle employee concerns and complaints, conflicts, and performance issues. Report to Superintendent if necessary

· Train crew members on construction procedures and operation of equipment.

· Complete all necessary project documentation and submit as required, including but not limited to: Daily Reports, Job Safety Analysis forms, weekly Toolbox Talks, Vacation Requests, Employee Reviews, etc.

· Follow all policies and procedures of GUCI.

Compensation

Starting at $27.50 per hour.

Gulfcoast Utility recognizes six (6) federal holidays and three (3) additional paid days off throughout the year:

Paid time off is offered to employees after completion of 60-day orientation period

Pay: $27.50 - $37.50 per hour
