Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Systems Estimation Engineer to join our team in Honolulu, HI. In this role, you will prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical construction projects, including HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems. Your expertise will play a key role in helping us deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and related documents to prepare cost estimates for mechanical systems.
- Develop material, labor, and equipment cost breakdowns to create accurate bid proposals.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary pricing and technical details.
- Identify potential project risks and cost-saving opportunities during the estimating process.
- Assist in bid reviews, presentations, and negotiations with clients and stakeholders.
- Maintain updated cost databases and stay informed on industry pricing trends and local market conditions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical estimating, preferably in the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems.
- Proficiency in estimating software such as QuickPen, Trimble, or similar tools.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and contract documents.
Nice-to-Haves
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) certification.
- Experience working on large-scale commercial or industrial projects.
- Familiarity with local building codes and regulations in Hawaii.
Location & Work Environment
This position is based in Honolulu, HI, and the work is conducted in an office environment. Some site visits may be required to assess project conditions and collaborate with teams on-site.
