Overview

We are seeking a Preconstruction and design Engineer—mechanical Systems to join our team in Honolulu, HI. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems design expertise. You will be key in preconstruction planning, providing technical expertise to ensure our projects are well-designed, cost-effective, and buildable. Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and clients to develop efficient and cost-effective mechanical system designs.
• Perform load calculations, energy modeling, and system sizing for HVAC and plumbing systems.
• Assist in preconstruction planning by reviewing project specifications, drawings, and codes to ensure compliance and feasibility.
• Prepare technical documents, material submittals, and value engineering recommendations.
• Work closely with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing and accurate cost estimates.
• Provide technical support during project handoff, assisting with design modifications and constructability reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 3 years of experience in mechanical systems design and preconstruction planning.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other industry-standard design software.
• Strong knowledge of local building codes, ASHRAE standards, and mechanical system design principles.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Nice-to-Haves

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certification.
• Experience with energy modeling and sustainability-focused mechanical designs.
• Familiarity with BIM coordination and clash detection software.
