We are seeking a Preconstruction and design Engineer—mechanical Systems to join our team in Honolulu, HI. You will be key in preconstruction planning, providing technical expertise to ensure our projects are well-designed, cost-effective, and buildable. Responsibilities
- Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and clients to develop efficient and cost-effective mechanical system designs.
- Perform load calculations, energy modeling, and system sizing for HVAC and plumbing systems.
- Assist in preconstruction planning by reviewing project specifications, drawings, and codes to ensure compliance and feasibility.
- Prepare technical documents, material submittals, and value engineering recommendations.
- Work closely with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing and accurate cost estimates.
- Provide technical support during project handoff, assisting with design modifications and constructability reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in mechanical systems design and preconstruction planning.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other industry-standard design software.
- Strong knowledge of local building codes, ASHRAE standards, and mechanical system design principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Nice-to-Haves
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certification.
- Experience with energy modeling and sustainability-focused mechanical designs.
- Familiarity with BIM coordination and clash detection software.
