JOB SUMMARY:

We are looking for a Laboratory Technician with knowledge in analytical techniques to perform laboratory testing for cross-functional departments. This role will support the R&D team, Field Technical team, and Manufacturing team by providing lab analytical support to assist with new product development, application development and Quality Control of Verdant’s current product HarvestHold Fresh. 25% of this role will be devoted to Quality Control of the current HarvestHold product.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Maintain documentation of analytical methods and Standard Operating Procedures for analytical tools and equipment
- Manage samples in a laboratory environment, entailing receiving, labelling and storing samples
- Identify and recommend improvements over existing lab processes and test methods
- Accurately record and summarize data in a timely manner
- Assist with product development projects by performing sample analysis and carrying out experiments
- Perform Quality Control testing on existing HarvestHold Fresh product, record to internal standards in a timely fashion
- Maintain lab equipment in good working order by performing preventative maintenance and calibration on analytical equipment
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues, working with others in the department as needed
- Work under the guidance of other scientists and engineers, following directions and protocols
- Support safety initiatives and ensure a clean, organized, & safe work environment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficient in the operation of analytical equipment including gas chromatography, microscopy, rheology and interfacial science
- Demonstrated analytical skills with experience in basic statistical analysis
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy and precision of test results
- Effective communicator with the ability to work cross-functionally
- Understanding of the technical aspects of analytical equipment to the level of ability of troubleshooting and problem solving
- Ability to identify and resolve issues which may arise during testing
- Understanding of laboratory and safety skills
- Excellent documentation skills
- Knowledge of how to handle hazardous material and waste in a laboratory setting
- Ability to maintain an organized laboratory and track lab consumables
- Good time management skills and ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
- Associate or BS degree in Chemistry, or similar degree with an analytical emphasis, or previous analytical experience
- Background in analytical method development, test method development and statistical analysis
