Job Overview: Gully Transportation is seeking a detail-oriented candidate to become its next Director of Safety with a focus on driver training, safety, and development. This position works with the Gully Transportation team and provides overall support and guidance to the terminals, drivers, and operation personnel.

This position's duties include the following:
· Directing and assisting weekly driver orientation.
· Directing our CDL training program and school.
· Working with students attending our CDL training and assuring they meet the minimum requirements for CDL driving position.
· Directing and assisting with road tests and driver training.
· Must be familiar with Hours of Service and the trucking industry.
· Collaborating with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
· Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
· Conducting safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
· Reviewing accident and incident reports.
· Providing a comprehensive & accurate monthly report containing appropriate metrics.
· Providing technical and administrative support to the safety committee.
· Identifying opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
· Stopping operations and activities that could harm employees or equipment.
· Assuring proper accountability is delivered for preventable accidents.
· Overseeing employee training on applicable safety standards.
· Reviewing safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
· Performing accident investigation training to all levels of the Organization.
· Monitoring CSA Basic Scores to address trends and drive performance.
· Administer and direct driver-related issues, acting as a disciplinary authority in line with company policies, DOT, and OSHA regulations, and manage HR-related tasks for drivers and shop employees.
Required Skills
· Must have experience in the transportation industry
· Must possess a CDL-A license or willing to regain a CDL if you no longer possess one.
· Experience and understanding of DOT regulations is required
· Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to conduct training
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
· Ability to lead and influence others within organization
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and trucking industry software
· Working knowledge of the performance management/ monitoring systems
· Analysis and identification of risk trends, problems, and solutions
· Ability to develop, coach, and mentor others including the ability to provide development experiences and network opportunities, advise, and teach to prepare others for effective job performance
· Ability to interact cooperatively and collaboratively with others as a team, including those holding divergent and/or opposing views and goals
· Understand and apply meaningful operations and safety performance metrics
· Ability to plan and execute events, safety meetings, accident review meetings, and safety celebrations
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $87,500.00 per year
