What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Writer - Zero Trust position at Gunnison Consulting Group?
We are seeking a motivated and customer-oriented Technical Writer to support our federal healthcare client.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Assist customer programs with architectural assessments focused on Zero Trust maturity including but not limited to developing and coordinating communications with the healthcare community during the assessment and facilitating scheduling for required interviews with program participants.
- Produce written reports with multi-year implementation roadmaps as a product of the assessments highlighting maturity in line with CISA’s Zero Trust maturity model including a gap analysis with clear and concise recommendations.
- US citizenship required.
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Technical Writing, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2 years of experience in technical writing, cybersecurity documentation, or IT policy development.
- Understanding of Zero Trust principles and familiarity with CISA’s Zero Trust Maturity Model.
- Experience writing about Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA), cybersecurity frameworks, or IT security best practices.
- Ability to interpret and document security architectures, frameworks, and gap analyses.
- Proficiency in technical writing tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, Confluence, MadCap Flare) and collaboration platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Jira, MS Teams).
- Familiarity with federal cybersecurity policies and standards (e.g., NIST 800-207, CISA guidelines).
- Strong ability to write clear, concise, and structured technical reports for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience developing roadmaps, executive summaries, and technical assessments for cybersecurity initiatives.
- Ability to translate technical jargon into plain language for various stakeholders.
- Experience coordinating and facilitating interviews and meetings with program participants.
- Ability to manage schedules, track assessment progress, and coordinate interviews with stakeholders.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams with cybersecurity architects, engineers, and program managers.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as Certified Technical Writer (CTW), CompTIA Security , CISSP, or CISA.
- Experience with risk assessments, gap analyses, or compliance frameworks (e.g., FISMA, FedRAMP).
- Background in government contracting or federal agency projects.
Clearance Requirement: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
The salary range for this position depends upon multiple factors including location, the individual's knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, and contract-specific budget constraints and organizational requirements.
