Estimator Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Estimator with a strong background in utility vegetation management and tree services. This position plays a key role in supporting project bids by performing on-site inspections, estimating project timelines, determining labor and equipment needs, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will bring over 8 years of industry experience and a deep understanding of Right-of-Way (ROW) work, regulatory standards, and vegetation management practices.
Duties/ Responsibilities
- Perform field inspections (ride-outs) of utility circuits to assess project requirements for Fixed Fee Utility, Capital, DOT, and Unit ROW projects.
- Develop accurate cost estimates, timelines, labor, and equipment needs for project proposals.
- Participate in walk-downs with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams to evaluate site conditions and scope of work.
- Collaborate with operations and business development teams during estimate reviews to ensure alignment with company goals.
- Apply expert knowledge of industry standards, safety practices, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain documentation and reports related to bids, inspections, and client communications.
- Provide exceptional customer service, responding promptly and professionally to all inquiries.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and contribute to estimating process enhancements.
Qualifications
- 8 years of experience in utility vegetation management, civil forestry, or a related field.
- Proven track record in project estimating and field operations.
- Strong understanding of ROW project planning, regulations, and environmental considerations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Spanish fluency is a plus.
- Ability to handle sensitive materials with discretion and confidentiality.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; able to manage multiple priorities.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and in team settings.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in using field equipment and estimation software is preferred.
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass a DMV background check.
- Willingness and ability to travel and work in varied outdoor conditions, including excessive heat or cold.
- Physically able to sit for extended periods, use a keyboard, climb stairs, and conduct on-site evaluations at height
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with both public and private vegetation management projects.
- Background in Civil Forestry or similar environmental field.
- Knowledge of ornamental pruning and heavy equipment operation is a plus.
