Position Summary:
The Fleet Manager is responsible for carrying out a wide variety of tasks related to planning, managing, supervising, ensuring compliance, and coordinating fleet related activities. They will be responsible for the final implementation and oversight of a fleet management system. Their main areas of focus include procurement and lifecycle management, tracking and maintaining all vehicles in the fleet, management of all DOT and other regulatory requirements, maintain quality control of fleet data and reporting, and managing budgets to improve the efficiency and quality of the fleet.
In addition, the Director will also provide maintenance direction and support for a large vegetation management and utility construction fleet. This position will work with suppliers and region employees to ensure that all company fleets are maintained in a safe and cost-effective manner to meet all OEM, State and Federal DOT requirements. You will be responsible for providing training, instruction and guidance in all areas related to vehicle and equipment maintenance. They must have experience with vegetation management equipment, as well as strong computer, organizational, and communication skills to be able to communicate effectively at all levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full vehicle lifecycle management, including identifying, pricing, purchasing, and maintaining vehicles.
- Support the integration and on-going maintenance/reliability of an enterprise-wide Fleet Management System (FMS) to provide the accurate capture of fleet asset and maintenance information. Once in place, the FMS will provide the ability to make accurate decisions and better manage the fleet resulting in on-going cost savings.
- Develop reporting requirements required at all levels
- Place training program for fleet and region personnel
- Integration with suppliers to assist with warranty recovery with fleet and recovery
- Ongoing data monitoring and reporting
- Recommend Lease or Buy Options and identify equipment to auction, part etc.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including DOT, FMSCA, and local DMV
- Develop and manage budget, identify cost savings opportunities, and authorize expenditures
- Develop strategies for greater fuel efficiency, IFTA reporting and fuel consumption / management
- Maintain detailed records of vehicle servicing and inspection
- Review, analyze and provide guidance for regions on large repair costs to make cost effective repair/replace decisions
- Maintain detailed records of drivers to support DOT program compliance
- Maintain a robust PM program to minimize downtime
- Support driver recruitment, training and development
- Maintain GPS and fleet systems as source of truth to support reporting requirements
- Manage equipment assignments, property tax, asset disposal, tolls, federal compliance, IRP, etc.
- Maintain clean, orderly, and safe working environment
- Oversee the training and development of maintenance staff across multiple locations
Education & Qualifications
· Experience working in Fleet Management required, with a preferred 5 years in a construction or vegetation type fleet
· Must have significant experience working with Fleet Management Systems
· Must have a solid background in Fleet Maintenance
· Strong and tested project management skills
· Success in managing others and carrying out a variety of projects
· Experience with DOT program management and working knowledge of DOT, FMCSA regulations required
· Experience providing first level support for technical and service-related issues
· Adaptable to a variety of assignments and settings; ability to communicate well with top corporate officials, all levels of managers, supervisors, and company drivers.
· Demonstrated communication effectiveness and ability to interact with senior levels of management
· Ability for overnight travel throughout the continental United States ( 0 – 10% )
· Able to work independently for long periods of time without direct supervision and to be able to keep supervisors informed of status and progress.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong organizational skills required
· Strong time management skills, including ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks

Pay: $90,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
