What are the responsibilities and job description for the HIM TECH I, PRN (onsite) position at Gunnison Valley Health?
The HIM Technician is responsible for customer service to PHI requestors and prepares correspondence for release of medical record information according to established policies and procedures. This position requires exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills. The HIM Technician will communicate in a compassionate and professional manner with patients and other hospital staff.
Position Qualifications:
Education: High School education or equivalent required
Experience: Experience in hospital medical records preferred
Skills & Responsibilities:
- Oversee record requests for Gunnison Valley Health
- Perform release of information for patients, physicians offices, attorneys, law enforcement agencies, a payers according to state and federal regulations
- Assist patients with the patient portal
- File medical records
- Perform bi-weekly audits of the physician deficiency wall and physician folders ensuring that they are up to date and free of errors
- Scan audit medical records monthly
- Locate and deliver medical records to staff and providers
- Maintain medical records which includes purging old records, and moving appropriately to storage
- Cooperates with others in the health system
Compensation: $18.00 - $21.80/hr, depending on experience.
