Medical Assistant to the Specialty Clinic and GVO (Dermatology and Foot/Ankle specialty).
GVH is willing to train an un-certified candidate towards certification.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a certified Medical Assistant program.
Experience: Previous medical practice, clinic or hospital experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology required. Excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills required. Experience with computers, fax/copy machines, telephone etiquette, paging systems, medical and non-medical software and database systems preferred.
Licenses/Certification: Maintenance of current CPR or BLS. Certified Medical Assistant.
Essential Functions:
- Triage phone calls, follow-up on phone calls
- Track operative reports, lab and pathology reports and call patients with results
- Place patients in room after taking vitals and health history
- Enter information into EMR
- Assist surgeons with minor procedures in office
- Clean, turn over exam rooms
- Authorizing prescriptions, procedures, radiology
- Meticulous follow-up with patients regarding lab/radiology/pathology test results
- Oversight of supplies, equipment
- Adhere to all GVH safety standards, policies and protocols
- Oversee patient wait times, ensure clinic runs efficiently
- Track operative reports, lab results, pathology
- Instrument sterilization oversight
- Specimen handling, processing and paperwork
- Check-in, check-out, surgery scheduling and coordination help if needed
- Positive attitude, open to change, willing to work in a team setting, respectful
Physical Requirements
- Occasionally (0-33%) – stooping, stairs, lifting 0-20 lbs, pushing/pulling 20-50 lbs
- Frequently (34–66%) - standing, walking, sitting, handling of items
- Continuously (37-100%) - see with corrective eyewear, hear clearly with assistance
Shift - Day
Schedule - M-F, 9am-5pm
Status - FT
Compensation: non-certified $17.00 - $22.10/hr,
Certified $18.00 - $23.40/hour depending on experience.
