Job Summary:
">We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Billing Specialist to join our team at Gunnison Valley Health. As a key member of our revenue cycle department, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely billing of patient services.
">Key Responsibilities:

- Determine patient financial obligations for services ">
- Ensure patients understand their estimated financial obligations and determine how they will meet that obligation ">
- Screen patients for eligibility in state insurance programs and the Gunnison Valley Hospital Financial Assistance Program ">
- Collect payments from patients before services are received ">
- Establish medical financing arrangements for patients facing large financial obligations ">
- Process monthly reports to the Revenue Cycle Director regarding accounts to forward to third-party vendors ">
- Audit self-pay bills for charges, duplications, and overlapping accounts before billing ">
- Work closely with PFS Account Representatives when insurance information is received through follow-up phone calls to patients/guarantors ">
- Receive and answer billing-related questions regarding payment and/or financial arrangements for all self-pay patients and patients with financial responsibility after insurance pays ">
- Process Gunnison Valley Hospital Financial Assistance Program applications and work closely with the Revenue Cycle Director regarding assistance program recipients ">
Requirements:

- Experience or training in a healthcare office setting and/or equivalent education or job-related activities is preferred ">
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor's degree is preferred ">
- Bilingual English and Spanish is desirable ">
- Knowledge of insurance claims and billing is preferred ">
- Ability to audit and review claim information for accuracy ">
- Ability to work cooperatively with other employees, departments, and the public ">
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines ">
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and concentrate in a busy environment ">
- Ability to use common computer systems and business software ">
