What are the responsibilities and job description for the Strength Coach, Western Colorado University position at Gunnison Valley Health?
As a representative of GVH in the Athletic Medicine program at WCU and partnering with the WCU Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, develop high level of strength and conditioning services for student-athletes participating in all NCAA sponsored sports at WCU.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s Degree preferred.
Experience: Two years collegiate Strength and Conditioning coaching experience preferred.
Licenses/Certification: National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS) or a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches (CSCCa) certification required. CPR and First Aid certified.
Skills/Responsibilities:
- Utilize and direct student-athletes in exercise techniques at each training session and deliver programs in an organized manner using best practices
- Strategize and adjust current strength training programs with coaching staff and sports medicine staff collaboration.
- Communicate with individual coaching staffs regarding student-athlete performance and rate of progress.
- Assist in the development of sport-specific strength training and conditioning programs designed to enhance sport performance and decrease incidence of non-contact injuries
- Assist in providing leadership, planning, organizing, and administering all aspects of the WCU Strength and Conditioning program
- Acknowledge and follow policies, procedures and regulations set forth by the NCAA D2, RMAC and University as they apply to athletic strength and training, and the student-athlete well-being
- Will be utilized in the best interest of GVH and WCU during WCU academic breaks and summers in a manner to be determined.

Compensation: $23.78 - $31.70/hr, depending on experience.
