DUTIES
Strategic Planning and Vision
· Develop and implement long-term strategic plans to guide the library’s direction, aligning services with community needs and emerging technologies.
Staff Leadership
· Recruit, train, and schedule library volunteers, foster a positive work environment and promote professional development.
Collection Development
· Oversee the selection, acquisition, and weeding of library materials across various formats (books, ebooks, audiobooks, etc.) to ensure a diverse and relevant collection.
Community Engagement
· Actively engage with community stakeholders, including local organizations, schools, government officials, to promote library services and address community needs.
Program Development
· Design and implement a variety of library programs and services for all ages, including educational workshops, storytime with children, community events and other outreach initiatives.
Volunteer Recruitment
· Develop strategies to attract new volunteers through outreach initiatives, community partnerships, and online postings.
· Conduct interviews and screen potential volunteers to match their skills with available roles.
Board Relations
· Report to the library board, provide updates on library operations, present budget proposals, and seek approval on key decisions
Volunteer Recognition
· Implement programs to acknowledge and celebrate volunteer contributions, such as regular thank-you events or awards.
· Maintain open communication with volunteers to gather feedback and address concerns.
Volunteer Leadership Development
· Identify and cultivate potential volunteer leaders to assist with specific projects or initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Previous library experience is preferred but not required.
· This is an amazing opportunity to create and implement your own vision of a small-town library
· Flexible schedule – mostly Monday-Friday
· This is currently a volunteer position with the intent to upgrade to a paid position as financial conditions permit
· Knowledge of basic marketing, social media, and networking strategies
· Must be able to bend and/or lift 20 pounds
· Must pass a background check

Pay: From $1.00 per year
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
