Position Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and skilled CMM Technician to oversee the precision measurement and quality assurance of our rifle components in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This hands-on role involves operating and optimizing Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to ensure designs are accurately translated from concept to finished product, while working collaboratively with our Product Design Engineering team to support new product development. It will also include using a variety of other inspection tools such as height stands, micrometers, gages, and indicators to ensure the quality of parts that aren’t suited for the CMM.
Primary Responsibilities
- Operate and program CMM equipment to perform detailed inspections and verify the dimensional accuracy of precision rifle components against technical specifications.
- Partner with the Product Design Engineering team to facilitate the integration of new designs, ensuring measurement processes align with quality standards from the outset.
- Develop and refine CMM inspection procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy in the production workflow.
- Ensure quality of parts that cannot be inspected on the CMM with other quality tools including height stands, micrometers, gages, and indicators.
- Collaborate with a team of junior technicians or inspectors, providing guidance on CMM operations and fostering a culture of continuous improvement using lean manufacturing principles.
- Analyze measurement data, generate comprehensive reports, and identify discrepancies to support process innovation and quality enhancements.
- Maintain and calibrate CMM machines to uphold peak performance and reliability.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and industry quality standards throughout all inspection activities.
- Manage inspection tools and equipment inventory, maintaining an organized and efficient workspace.
Qualifications
- Proven ability to cultivate a cooperative and efficient work environment focused on precision and excellence.
- Extensive knowledge of CMM operations, with a thorough understanding of measurement techniques, dimensional analysis, and high-precision inspection methods.
- Proficiency in CMM programming software (e.g., PC-DMIS or Calypso) and familiarity with CAD software for creating and interpreting inspection plans and fixture designs.
- Skilled in setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CMM processes, with the ability to implement corrective actions to ensure measurement accuracy.
- Strong expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and mechanical inspection techniques.
- Experience providing feedback to product design teams on Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to optimize components for efficient and accurate measurement processes.

Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour
