Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for accurately reconciling daily cash and credit card deposits, coordinating and submitting conference invoices, and promptly settling open receivable accounts to maintain accurate financial records. This role also involves responding to guest inquiries and professionally managing credit card chargeback disputes to support overall financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the house cash deposit for the prior day and report/follow up on all cashier overages and shortages.
- Balance the house bank daily and ensure adequate change is available for cashiers.
- Conduct ongoing audits of cashier banks and maintain accurate bank contracts for each cashier.
- Reconcile daily credit card deposits to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and submit invoices for conference groups in a timely manner.
- Ensure all open guest folios are reviewed and properly closed.
- Calculate and process commission payments for residence owners.
- Respond promptly to credit card inquiries and manage chargeback disputes.
- Assist guests with billing questions and provide excellent customer service.
- Verify night audit packets for accuracy and completeness.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller and Assistant Controller.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- 2–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong skills in Excel and Word.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with financial reconciliation and handling cash/credit transactions is a plus.
- Familiarity with accounting software and hotel property management systems is preferred.
Pay Range and Compensation Package:
- $80,000-$85,000 per year
