What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNA Adult Day Care Program Aide Part-time position at Gurwin Healthcare System?
Gurwin Healthcare System is a full continuum of care providing extraordinary care and caring to the people that we serve. Set on a 36-acre campus in Commack, NY, the Gurwin Healthcare System includes the 460-bed Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, providing short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care, memory care, respiratory and ventilator care, palliative and hospice care, social and medical adult day programs, and on-site dialysis and infusion therapy. Sharing the campus is Gurwin’s Assisted Living community (Gurwin Jewish : Fay J. We have two positions available:
Tuesday and Saturday 8:00am-4:00pm
Friday and Saturday 8:00am-4:00pm
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides direct care to Adult Day Care registrants under the direction of a licensed nurse.
Lead programs for the participants
Candidate will have direct and consistent clinical contact with registrants and must have the skills necessary to address the specialized needs of geriatric, young, physically challenged, cognitively challenged and developmentally challenged populations.
Candidate must be able to recognize the relative and respective physical, psychosocial and emotional changes that occur at different stages in life. This understanding will enhance and promote the ability to provide quality care.
Provides showers/shampoo, perineal care, oral care and hair and nail care (non-diabetic) as indicate.
Provides shaving and routine skin care as indicated.
Cleans and changes incontinent registrants as indicated.
Provides toileting, including understanding and applying knowledge of bowel and bladder training regime as indicated and use of mechanical lifts for toileting.
Assists in the nutritional aspect of the program: serve meals, cut food, and assist with feeding and clean tables afterwards.
Transfer registrants from one position to another as indicated.
Positions registrants in wheelchair as indicated.
Assists in recreational activities and transporting to and from special events as indicated.
Assists with therapeutic nursing programs when requested: ambulation, transfer training, range of motion, hot/cold packs, etc.
Takes registrants blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration, weight as indicated.
Obtains routine specimens: urine, stool and sputum as indicated.
Measures and records food and fluid intake as indicated.

- Certified in New York State Nurse Aide Registry (not expired or lapsed).
- Candidate must have no findings or convictions of resident abuse, mistreatment, neglect, or misappropriation of resident property listed on the Registry against them.
