What are the responsibilities and job description for the Delivery Driver position at Gusto Distributing?
JOB DESCRIPTION
Delivery Driver
Qualifications
A person wanting to become a delivery driver must have a clean driving record and a commercial driver's license (CDL-A). A high school diploma or equivalent GED is needed to apply for this position. Drivers must have the physical ability to lift up to 100 pounds and use a dolly up and down stairs while moving half barrels, quarter barrels and cases of beer from the truck to the account.
Driving
The job consists of driving a beer truck to establishments that have placed orders for beer, wine, and/or soda that Gusto distributes. The driver may or may not have a helper, but for most drivers, the physical aspects of the job are included in the delivery. Drivers must adhere to all MTDOT rules and regulations while employed at Gusto Distributing, and are responsible for the prompt reporting of any vehicle/equipment defects to the shop manager.
Delivery
The driver is given a route to follow. At each location, the driver will stop and pull up the orders for the account, using the provided iPhone App. The driver will unload the pallets/kegs/cases of product using a pallet jack, and handcart. The order will then be checked in, and verified for accuracy by both the customer, and the delivery driver. The driver is then responsible for putting the product in its proper location in the account. When placing the new beer in the cooler, the driver must place the older product in front of the newer beer, which means moving the barrels and cases of older beer around the cooler and placing the new product in the back or on the bottom. Product is to be placed on the sales shelves as needed, and empty kegs replaced with full.
Removing Product
Establishments that have empty half barrels or quarter barrels will need the driver to remove the empties and place those on the truck to be taken back to the company warehouse. Drivers are responsible for adding all deposit returns to the invoice. Any credits must also be taken, and placed on the truck for check-in at the end of the day.
Purchasing Order and Payment
The driver will have the invoice signed by the person at the establishment checking in the order. All payments received must be entered into the iPhone delivery app.
End the Day
The driver will return to the warehouse once all deliveries have been made. The truck cab will be cleaned out and the driver will remove all empty barrels or cases of beer returned by the customers. The driver will then run the End of Day reports, and check in his load with warehouse personnel. Trailers are to be swept at the end of each day.
