JOB SUMMARY: Provides primary health care and specialized nursing services to individuals, families, groups, and communities. Diagnoses medical conditions, plans and implements interventions, and evaluates patient responses. Triages, assesses, stabilizes, and treats injuries and acute and chronic illnesses.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited school/college of nursing
- Minimum five years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in a rural health care setting
- Currently licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Practitioner in the State of Iowa
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Current DEA Registration
- Current Iowa controlled substance registration
- Dependent Adult & Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assess, plan, prescribe, implement, and evaluate health care of individuals and families using established protocols to provide high quality health care.
- Provide primary, secondary, and tertiary health care to individuals, families, and groups emphasizing health promotion, disease prevention, early detection, and management of acute and chronic illnesses.
- Perform physical examinations, complete medical history, and assess the initial and ongoing needs of the patient and family in identifying health risks and formulating interventions.
- Accesses patient records to provide appropriate care and effectively manage patient’s electronic health records.
- Order, conduct, and interpret laboratory, radiographic, and diagnostic tests and perform procedures as situations indicate.
- Perform diagnostic testing, stabilization procedures, minor office procedures, and emergency treatment as needed.
- Prescribe interventions, perform therapeutic measures, and evaluate the plan of care to ensure the appropriate individualized plan of care is implemented and desired outcomes are achieved.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
