- Participates in the delivery of patient care for population specific groups under the direction of an RN including but not limited to the following :
- Delivery and retrieval of meal trays and general nutrition items
- Stocking of supplies and nutrition items
- Delivery of specimens to appropriate departments
- Equipment cleaning
- Patient room setup for new resident arrival
- Deliver clean linen
- Assist with personal laundry
- Provide fresh water as diet order allows
- Participates in patient safety / patient satisfaction.
- Answers call bells promptly
- Answering unit phone calls promptly
- Maintains neat and tidy environment (empties laundry, delivers equipment, nutrition area support, clean and safe environment).
- Assures proper storage of equipment.
- Returns equipment to specified locations
- Recognizes emergency situations and initiates plan of action
- Complies with policies and procedures of the hospital / nursing department.
- Supports the philosophy of the hospital and department of nursing.
- Represents the hospital to patients / families and health care team in a professional, courteous manner while being sensitive to how others perceive both verbal and non-verbal communications.
- Demonstrates cost-effective patient care by demonstrating proper use and care of equipment, appropriate and prudent use of supplies, accurate charging of supplies, performing other division-specific tasks, and appropriate utilization of available resources.
- Demonstrates initiative in completing work that needs to be done as defined in the employee's areas of responsibility.
- Participates in performance improvement activities to improve service and care.Other Duties
- Assists in the orientation of new personnel and serves as a role model to other employees.
- Utilizes time between patient care to maintain clean and orderly work environment and help with other duties.
- Demonstrates willingness to accept non-routine work assignments as appropriate.
