Position Summary:
Plans, organizes, and conducts a variety of recreational, social, cultural, and other purposeful activities for the residents. Understands and adheres to GCMC’s Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies. Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and GCMC regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they are changed or modified. Supervision of Therapeutic Recreation Leader.
Education, License & Cert:
Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Therapeutic, Recreation Leader
Experience:
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the Therapeutic Recreation field, preferably in a nursing home setting.
Essential Functions:
a) Plans, organizes, and conducts a variety of recreational, social, cultural, and other purposeful activities for the residents. Evaluates residents’ leisure interests, develops care plan, and prepares evaluations and summary reports on resident charts.
b) Writes progress notes as needed, but at least on a quarterly basis. Accurately reflects the residents’ status. Documents notes in a timely manner.
c) Organizes and directs such activities as sports, dramatics, music, movies, arts, crafts, games, special events, etc.
d) Makes one‐on‐one visits with residents.
e) Encourages and assists residents who need transportation to activities.
f) Maintains attendance and activity records.
g) Cleans and inspects recreation areas and equipment. Makes sure that the animals are cared for daily.
h) Assists in the scheduling of the program calendar of events, which entails exploring and utilizing any available community resource.
i) Reviews the resident care plans on a regular basis, providing input as necessary.
j) Coordinates the delivery of the resident’s mail and newspapers ensuring residents receive their mail the same day. Forwards mail to families of discharged residents the same day as it arrives.
k) Types the weekly and monthly resident activity calendars for the Residential Care Facility timely and accurately.
l) Arranges to have flowers sent to the residents and registrants for their birthday.
m) Will work directly with the Rehabilitation department and therapists to develop restorative group programming as appropriate. Assesses prior level of participation in recreation and leisure.
n) Will work with the Rehabilitation department in assisting in developing and carrying out community mobility programs as appropriate.
o) Attends care conference for all Short‐Term Rehabilitation residents.
p) Works with the therapy team to develop a schedule of programs to ensure that residents do not miss their designated therapy time.

The pay for this position ranges from $21.46-$34.00 per hour.
