Job Description:
The Clinical Coding Professional is responsible for accurately entering charge tickets after screening for appropriate use of CPT, ICD-10, and modifier codes. This role requires strong communication skills to work closely with departments/sites when expected charge tickets have not been received for entry. The ideal candidate will have experience working with computers, accurate keyboarding skills, and knowledge of medical terminology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform charge entry function on a daily basis
- Review charge ticket for completeness and accuracy in the use of CPT, ICD-10, and Modifiers
- Identify and communicate to appropriate parties any missing or inaccurate patient or charge entry requirements necessary to complete charge entry
- Calculate procedure hash totals in order to ensure accurate posting of cpt codes
- Maintain strict confidentiality related to patient health information in accordance with HIPAA compliance
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Degree in Medical Office Assistant preferred, but High School Diploma required with concentration in business courses
- One to two years experience with data entry
- Accurate keyboarding skills and experience working with computers
- Basic coding knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and modifier application
- Strong verbal and communication skills, detail oriented, and basic math comprehension
