The Per Diem RN will float between our Nursing and Rehab floors to assist wherever the greatest needs are for that day. Uur shifts run from Days : 6 : 00 AM - 2 : 30 PM, Evenings : 2 : 00 PM -10 : 30 PM, and Nights 10 : 00 PM - 6 : 30 AM

Guthrie Cortland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is searching for a compassionate & skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exceptional care in our Resident Care Facility in our beautiful hospital in Cortland, NY. Our Resident Care Facility opened their doors over 25 years ago and is an 80-bed Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Job Summary :
Responsible for delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Directs and guides patient teaching and the activities of ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing. Understands and adheres to GCMC’s Compliance Standards as they appear in GCMC’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and GCMC regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
Experience :
Entry level-graduate per Education requirementsSpecialty Units-At least 1 year of medical-surgical nursing preferred. (i.e. ICU, Maternity, Psych)Skills :

Performs patient assessment and documents accurately in a timely manner per nursing and department policyPerforms nursing admission assessment thoroughly and within timeframe. Monitors patient as appropriate for condition, status and safety according to nursing department policyMonitors patient’s vital signs and systems per protocol and documents on appropriate formsRecognizes change in patient’s condition or status and reports to charge nurse or physician as appropriateCalls CAT team for patients who meet criteriaWorks to ensure patient safety is maintained in all aspects of patient care, by following all policies related to National Patient Safety Goals, etcRaises concern about patient care and utilizes the Chain of Command as needed to prevent patient harmMedication Administration
Performs safe administration and complete documentation of medications, IV fluids, and blood products in accordance with nursing policyFollows medication administration policy using e-Mar, bar coding and scanning of medications and has at least an 85% scan rateInsertion of IV’s under aseptic technique and follows IV policy by changing site, tubing and dressing and documents accordinglyAlways follows hospital policy when administering blood productsMaintains security of electronic signature with Omnicell and accounts for all narcotics removed from automated dispensing system through proper waste / return administration documentation.Patient and Family Education

The pay range for this position is $46.82 - $60.34 per hour.
