POSITION SUMMARY:
The Commercial Analyst plays a critical role in driving business growth and profitability by analyzing data, developing actionable insights, and providing strategic recommendations. This role involves working closely with multiple departments to understand business performance and contribute to the development of pricing, forecasting, and business strategies.
The ideal candidate has a strong customer service acumen and is a collaborative utility player within the Commercial Sales group. The candidate must be willing to be the “front line” for our customers. Top-rated customer service is a priority.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into functional and technical requirements.
- Work with the company’s CRM software, using this to accurately record current customer interactions as well as new customers.
- Own customer billing and credit to ensure accuracy and precision, utilizing many internal tools and reports (PowerBI, Right Angle, etc.).
- Run ad-hoc analyses for both internal and external parties.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
- Generate periodic financial and operational reports for key stakeholders.
- Collaborate with teams to assess market trends, customer behavior, and competitor performance.
- Support strategic decision-making through forecasting, modeling, and scenario analysis.
- Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and KPIs to monitor business performance.
- Analyze variances between actual performance and forecasts/budgets, providing actionable recommendations.
- Conduct margin analysis to support product/service optimization.
- Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Operations
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- An ability to effectively maintain relationships across all levels of the organization.
- A positive and flexible attitude.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to understand problems and make timely, practical business decisions.
- Intermediate Computer Skills: Experience and understanding working in Windows, Internet Explorer and MS-Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Power BI reporting, and Right Angle.
- Strength in task prioritization
- Creative thinking and problem-solving aptitude
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, or related field
- Proven experience as a Commercial Analyst, Financial Analyst, or similar role.
- Experience with financial modeling, forecasting, and market analysis
