Night Custodian

DISTRICT: Guy-Perkins School District JOB TITLE: Night Custodian REPORTS TO: K-12 Principal for Student Services and Superintendent JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the K-12 Principal for Student Services and Superintendent, this position is responsible for performing cleaning duties for the Guy-Perkins School District as laid out on the performance schedules for each building. Knowledge or willingness to learn proper cleaning techniques is essential. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Job responsibilities/functions include performing the daily, ¬weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules. The following are summaries of those tasks: •Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping of flooring. •Cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms. •Re¬stocking supplies in bathrooms. •Emptying trashcans and replacing liners. Cleaning receptacles, as necessary. •Maintaining custodian areas (storage rooms, closets, etc.) in a clean, organized, and safe manner. •Maintaining cleaning equipment in a clean, safe, and operable manner. •Properly diluting and using all cleaning chemicals. •Wearing proper personal protective equipment at required times (safety glasses, gloves, etc.) •Helping to maintain school grounds. •Notifying daytime custodian and/or supervisor concerning the need for repairs to operating systems, or equipment. •Requesting supplies and equipment needed to perform essential cleaning functions. •Monitoring building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours. •Performing other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work requires routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying items weighing less than fifty pounds. Moving items over fifty pounds will require a team lift, or proper moving equipment. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: •Good communication and interpersonal skills. •Good customer service skills. •Ability to follow oral and written instructions. •Ability to prioritize multiple tasks. •Ability to work effectively with a team. •Ability to work independently as needed to support the group effort. •Basic knowledge of cleaning products or willingness to learn.
