Position Overview
Guzman Energy is seeking a Day-Ahead Power and Transmission Scheduler responsible for daily submittal of power and transmission schedules in various power markets (WECC, CAISO, SPPISO, ERCOT) and Transmission Provider systems. This role supports Day Ahead traders in evaluating transmission paths and ensures timely and accurate scheduling of generation resources, contract purchases and sales, day-ahead energy/capacity transactions, and transmission resource management. The candidate must thrive in an open-floor environment and collaborate well with team members.
Responsibilities
- Monitor day-ahead transmission positions, analyze wind forecasts, and market obligations to optimize transmission redirects and purchases.
- Accurately record transactions in the relevant deal capture system.
- Maintain and manage transmission reservations in OASIS, including trans-assignments and redirects.
- Coordinate with Day-Ahead Power Traders for ensuring proper tagging and transmission usage.
- Communicate with relevant counter parties to ensure proper tagging and scheduling.
- Develop tools with analysts to track and analyze transmission outages and wind forecasts.
- Assist the Trading Manager with transmission usage and various ad hoc reports/assignments.
- Maintain an understanding of energy markets and NERC scheduling protocols.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 1 years of energy industry experience related to energy dispatch and/or hourly trading preferred. Recent graduates with relevant technical and analytical backgrounds will be considered.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred; MBA or graduate degree(s) welcomed.
- Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and interruptions while maintaining accuracy.
- Strong work ethic, self-discipline, and attention to detail.
- Team player with good communication skills.
- Goal-oriented with defined target outcomes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and industry-specific software (OATI WebTrader, WebSmartOasis, OATI webSmartTag).
- Experience with CAISO, ERCOT, MISO, PJM, NYISO, and/or ISONE markets and/or operations.
- NERC and PJM certification are a plus.
- Data programming skills in Python, R, SQL, and/or JavaScript are a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive salary ranging from $65,000 - $85,000 per year, based on skills and experience.
