What We Are Looking For
GVEC is looking to hire you for the position of Network Access Engineer to deliver the unexpected with a willingness to continuously develop yourself, your department, and our organization. As a Network Access Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring all service provider access equipment is maintained and related events are resolved quickly. You will work closely within the group and other departments to ensure the processes, communications, and troubleshooting adhere to the company guidelines.
Your Pay
The pay range for this role is between $111,000 - $145,000 per year and will be commensurate based on your skills, qualifications and experience. In addition, GVEC ties cash bonuses to a multitude of organizational benchmarks set forth annually.
How You’ll Help
- Ability to implement, administer and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including subscriber management, Broadband Network Gateways, Point-to-Multipoint access points and fiber to the home access equipment
- Support network initiatives by facilitating the deployment of new networks, upgrading existing infrastructure, identifying suitable products to meet specific requirements and providing strategic input for future projects
- Research, design and implement new network solutions and/or improve the efficiency of current networks
- Operate and interpret data analysis using SNMP tools and data analyzers, such as sniffer, Wireshark and TCP dump
- Participate in an on-call rotation
- Perform Tier 1 and Tier 2 troubleshooting and resolution of network failures and issues
Experience/Skills You’ll Need
- Understanding of service provider and home network technologies including but not limited to:

- Connectivity (Ethernet, WiFi, IPv4 and IPv6)
- Switching (MPLS)
- Routing (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS)
- Subscriber management (BNG, RADIUS, BSS/OSS integration)
- Internet services (DNS, DHCP, NAT etc.)
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting access platforms such as Adtran TA5000 (GPON), Cambium Network equipment, and Calix CPE
- Knowledge and troubleshooting of most common consumer devices
- Residential or enterprise Wi-Fi design and remote troubleshooting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and confidently
- Sufficient experience with Linux to be able to understand how Linux systems may respond to different network conditions
- Excellent problem-solving skills - able to effectively troubleshoot minor issues independently
- Demonstrated ability to effectively evaluate and manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic. Able to work independently with an impeccable sense of integrity
- Team player with the resolve to provide and take constructive criticism that helps evolve the team
Preferred Experience/Skills
- Preferred advanced Unix / Linux skills (shell scripting, bash, python and other common scripting language)
- Minimum 1-3 years working experience in network maintenance, equipment installation, network engineering, provisioning and or Tier I technical support working with Juniper, Brocade, Extreme, ADTRAN, and Calix equipment to include but not limited to:

- Calix – Gigacenter and Gigaspire CPE, Calix Cloud
- Juniper – EX, QFX and MX platforms
- Brocade Carrier Ethernet Router (CER) and ICX
- Extreme Switches
