What We Are Looking For
GVEC is looking to hire you for the position of Network Engineer to deliver the unexpected with a willingness to continuously develop yourself, your department, and our organization. As a Network Engineer, you will help develop, implement and support complex networking solutions to address various business challenges. This person has a sound business approach in order to support GVEC’s initiatives. This team member delivers exceptional customer experiences and drives operational excellence in their everyday work. Besides being a solid technical role, this position requires strong people skills and enjoys the dynamic nature of GVEC’s environment.
Your Pay
The pay range for this role is between $111,000 - $142,000 annually. and will be commensurate based on your skills, qualifications and experience. In addition, GVEC ties cash bonuses to a multitude of organizational benchmarks set forth annually.
How You’ll Help
- Maintain and troubleshoot a scalable ISP network, including topological / protocol hierarchies, redundancy and policies
- Strong understanding of IP Routing Protocols, design, and optimization
- Drive and implement network solutions-based architectures to increase efficiencies
- Perform scheduled network maintenance activities
- Work on one or more projects as a team member and occasionally as a project team lead
- Drive network standards and provide feedback to the Network Team
- Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience for both internal and external customers
- Provide after-hours On-Call support as required
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Experience/Skills You’ll Need
- 2-3 years’ experience with Service Provider network design and support
- Strong understanding and application experience with BGP, RSVP, LDP, MPLS and OSPF
- Experience in fault isolation logic and techniques independently
- Strong understanding of MPLS-enabled networks and applications (l3vpn, l2tp, vpls)
- Understanding of Ethernet Layer 2 protocols and technologies: VLANs, rSTP and Metro Rings
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP (both IPv4/IPv6)
- Extensive operational knowledge of Cisco, Brocade and Juniper routers and switches
- Ability to script using PERL/Python/Shell is desirable
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and confidently
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to effectively troubleshoot minor issues independently with an impeccable sense of integrity
- Demonstrated ability to effectively evaluate and manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Team player with the resolve to provide and take constructive criticism that helps evolve the team
Preferred Experience/Skills
- College degree (BA or BS); technical degree required, with relevant experience
- Certifications - Cisco CCNP and/or Juniper JNCIS
