What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Lifeguard - Part Time position at GVRD?
GENERAL SUMMARY
This position is responsible for overseeing the work of lifeguards, providing swimming instruction, preforming pool chemical checks, ensuring facility maintenance and cleanliness, and providing customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides guidance and instruction to lower level employees. Delegates tasks and maintains staff relations.
- Monitors the pool for signs of danger and distressed swimmers.
- Provides swim instruction. Works to fill vacant spots in swim schedule.
- Identifies and resolves staff scheduling issues. Sets up weekly lesson block schedule.
- Assists in building swim programs. Stay up to date with aquatics programming.
- Responds to patrons’ questions and concerns.
- Ensures proper functioning of pool area. Maintains chemicals and facility cleanliness.
- Performs related work as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work requires providing guidance and the potential to oversee another employee. This position may oversee work quality, training, instructing, and work assignments.
HUMAN COLLABORATION & JOB IMPACT
- Work requires regular interaction involving exchange and receipt of information. The impact the job has on GVRD is significant in terms of time, money, or public/employee relations.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
- Position has limited fiscal responsibility. May assist in the collection of data in support of recommendations for departmental budget allocations. May monitor division or program/promotional level budget and expenditures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
- One (1) to three (3) years' experience as a lifeguard
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities
Required Licenses or Certifications
- American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, First Aid, and Administering Emergency Oxygen.
