What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrician position at GW Lisk Company Inc?
General Responsibilities:
Installation and servicing of all electrical and HVAC equipment throughout the plant. Included in this category is a wide variety of ordinary electrical apparatus: various size motors, starters, controls, etc.
Specific Duties:
- Laying out extensive electrical installations, wiring complex circuits and working toward objective from general instructions.
- Plan details of procedure and methods, may make decisions and suggest layout changes to improve or facilitate work.
- Balance live loads, wire complex circuits, diagnose trouble and make necessary repairs to simple as well as complex equipment.
- Maintain lighting and signal systems, electric brakes, crane and planer controls, generating and power house and other equipment.
- Wire circuits, make various kinds of wiring connections, operate test motors, determine causes of trouble in ordinary equipment.
- Set up wiring for new machinery; assist in the installation of more complicated electrical equipment under supervision.
- Supervise other electricians and helpers as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Use decimals, algebra and shop mathematics.
- Work from diagrams or schematic drawings.
- Know electrical measuring instruments.
- Must know fundamentals of electricity such as Ohms law, use handbook and wattage formulas.
- Must know of the operation of electrical equipment.
- Equivalent to partial high school plus 2-3 years of apprenticeship or trade training.
- Locating difficult electrical troubles and making repairs, at times including complicated wiring, requires initiative to successfully perform duties. Errors in judgment and poor installation or repairs may cause serious damage beyond the immediate equipment or cause serious production delays.
- 2-4 years - Electrical Construction and Maintenance.
Compensation: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour based on experience
