Position Summary
Under the responsibility and supervision of physicians, the NP/PA will provide clinical patient care services, including data gathering, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and the management of stable and chronic illnesses. They will be credentialed according to medical staff regulations and work under the supervision of an appropriately credentialed attending physician.
Please note: Compensation for this role includes supplemental pay and shift differentials, ensuring a higher and more competitive total compensation package due to night and weekend coverage. Base salary range is $108K - $156K, plus differential pay.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
- Perform patient evaluations and problem identification.
- Conduct history and physical examinations.
- Prescribe medications, order, and interpret laboratory and radiological tests.
- Monitor patient status and response to treatment.
- Document findings in the medical record.
- Recommend appropriate therapeutic interventions.
- Coordinate with consultants as needed.
- Provide education and counseling for patients and families.
- Refer patients to relevant agencies for illness/disease management.
- Order appropriate therapeutic interventions.
- Supervise NP, PA, health science, and medical students as applicable.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- NP: Master’s degree in nursing and completion of an approved nurse practitioner program.
- PA: Master’s degree and completion of an approved physician assistant program.
Licensure
- PA: Current NCCPA certification and D.C. licensure as a Physician Assistant.
- NP: Current ANCC certification and D.C. licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
Experience
- Previous experience is preferred.
