Air Conditioning Mechanic I
The Georgia World Congress Center is currently seeking an Air Conditioning Mechanic I to join our team. The Air Conditioning Mechanic I shall be responsible performing routine maintenance the heating-ventilation-air conditioning, kitchen equipment, pumping/ plumbing systems, and providing of engineering services located in the Georgia World Congress Center, Centennial Olympic Park and associated areas as directed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform routine Maintenance/Operation of all Physical Plants System and Kitchen equipment as assigned.
- Plan, organize, prioritize and assign work to ensure that the highest quality of services is provided to our customers, both internal and external.
- Provide direct supervision to staff as required to ensure that all services and equipment maintenance is performed at the highest level of standards.
- Assist in the recruiting, interviewing, selecting, hiring and training of Engineering Department personnel.
- Participate in, and upon occasion conduct, departmental operations meetings, and such other meetings as required.
- Initiate and complete work orders as required to maintain proper operation of equipment.
- Maintain environmental conditions to satisfy the needs and comfort for our customers.
- Maintain records of all refrigerant usage as required by federal law.
- Maintain a close relationship with companies operating within the Georgia World Congress Center.
- Prepare requests for purchases and operate within specified budgets.
- This position requires an irregular work schedule, and performance of work assignments that may not be directly related to job specifications.
- Maintain a professional image that represents the philosophy of the Georgia World Congress Center Authority with emphasis on providing the highest level of service deemed possible.
- Perform such other duties, functions, special projects and responsibilities as assigned

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- A high school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) required.
- A minimum of six (6) years experience as an air conditioning mechanic for an air conditioning contractor with three (3) years experience in a supervisory position is required.
- Prefer two (2) years as an air conditioning mechanic for a multi-purpose facility servicing major exhibition, entertainment and/or meeting oriented events.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
State of Georgia, Conditioned Air Contractors, Non-restricted; ACCA, Universal Technician, Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification Program; Boiler Certification may be substituted based on experience. Certification in Refrigeration from a junior college or technical school preferred.
