Terms of Employment: 215-day contract
General Job Summary: Thoroughly versed in educational process and theory, serves as the educational leader and chief administrator of Gilbert Elementary School, 3rd through 5th grade. Responsible for implementing and managing the policies, regulations, and procedures of the Board of Education to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe, child-centered learning environment that meets and exceeds the State Core Curriculum Content Standards, following the approved curricula and directives of the school. Achieving academic excellence requires that the Elementary School Principal work collaboratively to lead and nurture all members of the school staff and to communicate effectively with parents, members of the community and colleagues in other districts and schools. Inherent in the position are the responsibilities for planning of curriculum development, school improvement, student achievement, program evaluation, extracurricular activities, supervision and evaluation of all school personnel, student discipline, financial management, emergency procedures, resource scheduling, and facilities operations.
Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Education/Administration including training in administration, curriculum, supervision, evaluation, educational leadership and related fields.
- Must have or be eligible for Administrative Certification as required by Michigan School Law.
- A minimum of five (5) years of elementary teaching and/or school administration.
- Knowledgeable in areas of elementary curriculum, budgeting, scheduling, school improvement, facility management and State and Federal grants.
- Experience with coordination of Special Education services and monitoring of Special Education caseloads preferred.
- Such additions or alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
