JOB SUMMARYWe are seeking a professional, highly energetic and dedicated leader to join our team! The Director of Transportation is responsible for managing transportation functions with the focus on providing students and passengers with efficient and safe transportation.
Essential Functions And Objectives
Directs, manages, and provides oversight for transportation activities, including employees, and initiates improvements based upon analysis of cost effectiveness including presenting proposals for major changes.
Oversees route developmentand logistics with an emphasison efficient route times.
Assists in the hiring of bus drivers, mechanics and any other transportation related personnel.
Develops, monitors, and controls the operating transportation budget and makes recommendations for potential savings or upcoming issues.
Coordinates with the business office to prepare bids for the purchase of buses.
Checks roads and routes in inclement weather and makes recommendations to the Superintendent regarding school cancellation, early release, or late arrival.
Directs, monitors, and controls a comprehensive transportation safety program and initiates professional development.
Performs special assignments as directed by the Superintendent.
Have a class B CDL with a P, S, and air brake endorsements or be willing and able to obtain one.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's Degree or knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired through the completion of a four-year college degree program such as a Bachelor’s of Management or Business Administration
Three to five years of supervisory experience and responsibility.
Previous experience in working in a transportation related field is preferred along with knowledge or experience working with heavy equipment.
EMPLOYMENT TERMS
Exempt, non-unionposition
215 day contract
Salary is commensurate with education and experience ($50,000-60,000 starting salary range)
Comprehensive benefit coverage or cash-in-lieu of benefits
