Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct daily practice sessions, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and game strategy.
- Develop and implement game plans and strategies for the varsity team.
- Monitor and assess the performance of student-athletes during practices and games.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that emphasizes respect, discipline, and sportsmanship.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations, schedules, and progress.
- Organize and coordinate team activities, including games, tournaments, and fundraisers.
- Maintain accurate records of player attendance, statistics, and performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with other coaches and staff to promote the overall athletic program at Gwinn Middle/High School.
- Ensure compliance with all school and state athletic policies and regulations.
- Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay current on coaching techniques and strategies.
- Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school level.
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their best.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel for games and tournaments.
- A commitment to promoting the academic success and well-being of student-athletes.
- Background check clearance as required by school policy.
