Class Summary

Job Description The Trades Technician position will be responsible for installing, repairing equipment as well as preventative and general maintenance within the assigned functional area. This position will be responsible for responding to emergency calls and repairing or replacing damaged equipment as needed. In addition, this position will provide assistance to the Master Electricians on large projects.

Essential Duties

  • Performing installations and repairing equipment in functional area
  • Maintaining and stocking own work truck
  • Preparing and setting up tools, equipment, and materials as needed for each assignment
  • Responsible for county credit card, cell phone and tablet, in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Monitoring and responding to emails
  • Coordinating with outside vendors as needed
  • Completing service request paperwork
  • Maintaining a safe working environment

Trades Technician II

The grade for Trades Technician is B21(3) with a salary range of $43,238 - $49,724. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. AND
  • Two years of trades experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.

  • Valid driver's license

    This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.

    Grade

    The grade for this position is B21(3). Salary will be dependent on education and experience.

The 14 departments that make up the executive side are Police Services, Fire and Emergency Services, Corrections, Communications, Support Services, Financial Services, Community Services, Human Resources, Information Technology Services, Law, Planning and Development, Water Resources, Child Advocacy & Juvenile Services, and Transportation. Each department is run by a director who is charged with managing operations in a manner which stresses the County's values.

    In addition to the executive side of County government, certain services are provided through Constitutional officers and independent elected officials. These external offices are created by the Georgia Constitution or through state law. In Gwinnett, they include the Sheriff, Tax Commissioner, District Attorney, Solicitor, Probate Court Judge, and Chief Magistrate.
